District officials from the Warrensburg Central School District, Lake George Central School District, and Bolton Central School District are aware of the recent arrests of two Lake George students, who face charges of public lewdness and endangering the welfare of a child. Due to the ongoing investigation and student privacy laws, we are unable to provide further information at this time.
Please know that the safety and well-being of our students are our top priorities and we are cooperating fully with law enforcement as they continue to investigate this matter.
Due to the varying levels of involvement among several student-athletes in the incident, ongoing school investigations will continue, and disciplinary action will be taken according to each district’s Code of Conduct and Athletic Code of Conduct. Additionally, a comprehensive investigation is already underway, along with a thorough review of all existing procedures and processes regarding student safety.
Lake George Central School District will be instituting a new tip line for students to anonymously report incidents of concerning behavior, bullying, and/or harassment. There will also be additional meetings for coaches and student-athletes prior to the winter and spring season to review the athletic code of conduct along with additional educational programming for students on strategies for bystander intervention.
To support students as they process this challenging situation, counseling services from each district are available to offer guidance and assistance. We encourage any student struggling with their emotions, or uncertain how to deal with this difficult situation to please reach out or stop by the counseling office, regardless of their involvement in football.
We will continue to monitor the situation and take appropriate action to maintain a safe learning environment for all our students. If we are able to share more information, we will reach out directly through our school messaging systems and update our websites.
Sincerely,
Amy Langworthy
