Lake George Students Gain Insights into Local Economy at EDC Luncheon

Two seniors from Lake George Jr.-Sr. High School, Anthony Cocozza and Logan Gates, as well as school counselor Stephen Preuss, had the opportunity to represent Lake George CSD at the annual EDC luncheon meeting on October 1st.

The Economic Development Corporation (EDC) of Warren County plays a vital role in attracting new businesses, industries, and jobs to the area, while also supporting the growth and expansion of existing local businesses.

Held at the Queensbury Hotel, this year’s luncheon focused on a comprehensive analysis of the local economy, past, present, and future. By examining over 100 years of data, the EDC identified three key pillars that have shaped the region’s economic landscape: Experiences, Services, and Enterprise.

The luncheon featured three area speakers. Jim Siplon, EDC President, presented the new analysis and its implications for the region’s economic development. Paul Scimeca, President/CEO of Glens Falls Hospital, discussed the hospital’s role as a major employer and economic anchor, as well as the necessary investments to ensure its continued success. Drew Fitzgerald, Founder of JUST Water, Facet Creative, 50Cthree, EcoFund, and other ventures, highlighted the potential for the region to capitalize on its natural resources and entrepreneurial spirit.

Students from various area schools were recognized for their attendance and encouraged to participate in the ongoing efforts to make the Lower Adirondack Region an attractive place for businesses and individuals to live and work.

“Attending this event provided a valuable experience for our students to understand the organizations working to improve our region’s economic vitality,” said Stephen Preuss, Jr.-Sr. High School Counselor. “It’s important for them to see firsthand how local businesses and institutions contribute to our community’s growth and development.”
