Lake George Second Graders Learn about Leadership

Second graders at Lake George Elementary School are learning the importance of leadership and community involvement. Through engaging activities and real-world experiences, these students are developing a strong foundation for becoming responsible citizens.

In their Social Studies class, students have been exploring the concepts of rules, laws, and citizenship. They’ve learned about the different levels of government, from local leaders like the mayor to national leaders like the president. To make the learning process even more fun, the class held their own mock election and voted on the best character pumpkin in the school library.

To gain firsthand insights into the role of a mayor, the second graders visited the office of Lake George Mayor Perry. During their visit, they asked questions about the mayor’s daily duties, the election process, and the challenges and rewards of serving the community.

By participating in these hands-on activities and interacting with local leaders, these students now have a deeper understanding of the responsibilities and how to be a good citizen. We know these lessons are making a positive impact for the future of their community.
