Lake George Elementary School Named Grand Prize Winner in the 2023-2024 Read for RMHC Program

Lake George Elementary School has been named the grand prize winner in the 2023-2024 Read for RMHC program, a fundraising initiative benefiting Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC).

Throughout the month of March students at LGES participated in the community service program that combines the power of reading and helping families in need. Students raised funds by setting reading goals and gathered donations based on these goals in support of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Capital Region.

The student’s outstanding efforts resulted in a donation total of $8,837, making them the school with the fifth-highest fundraising amount across the entire program in the capital region.

“We are thrilled to share this exciting news with you,” said Nancy Damato, director of the Read for RMHC of the Capital Region Program. “What a fantastic job your school and students did in supporting our RMHC families. We can’t thank you enough!”

As the grand prize winner, LGES will receive a special prize bag filled with exciting treats for students and staff.  The bag includes tickets to Six Flags Great Escape, Tri-City ValleyCats games, UAlbany sporting events, Apex Entertainment gift cards, and RMHC memorabilia.

“I’m very proud of the LGES students that participated in this program.  This was a wonderful opportunity for our students to learn about helping others,” said LGES Principal Jim Conway. “A special thanks to the families and community members that donated to support our students.”

Through their impressive fundraising efforts, LGES displays the positive impact students can have when championing for an important cause. Their dedication to helping others has made a significant difference for families served by RMHC.
