The Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) took part in an exciting field trip to Great Escape, a thrilling adventure park. This annual event, part of the Fall District Meeting (FDM), provides students with a unique opportunity to learn about the inner workings of a local business. Lake George’s FBLA chapter has been participating in this educational experience for the past 27 years.
During the trip, FBLA members gained insights from industry professionals: Timothy Haskell, Entertainment Supervisor; Duncan Mularz, Business Manager; and Rebecca Woods, Resort President. These experts shed light on the complex operations required to run a safe and enjoyable theme park.
“It was fascinating to see the behind-the-scenes magic of Great Escape,” shared Kari Lynn, junior. “I’ve been visiting the park since I was little, and it’s incredible to learn about the effort that goes into making it all happen.”
The students were treated to an exclusive backstage tour of the Carnevil Horror House, a chilling experience that revealed the creative process behind a successful seasonal haunted attraction. Additionally, they had the privilege of riding the Bobcat roller coaster, a highlight of the trip.
Over 100 FBLA members participated in the FDM, and the Great Escape trip was undoubtedly a memorable experience.
“It was inspiring to learn about the diverse career paths available within the theme park industry,” said senior Rebecca Pape.
