December Staff Spotlight: Shannon Dachel

This April will mark a significant milestone for Shannon Dachel, a beloved custodian at Lake George Central School District. Celebrating 20 years of dedicated service, Dachel has become an integral part of the school community.

“The favorite part of my job is definitely being around the kids,” Dachel said. “They make my day. I love hearing their stories. They bring so much to my life. I feel like they’re all my kids.”

Dachel started her career at the district as a night custodian. Over the years, she has built strong bonds with the students, often spending time reading and interacting with them.

“Being able to hang out with the students and read with them or just listen to a story about their day creates a good bond,” she explained, emphasizing the bittersweet nature of seeing students grow and move on.

“Lake George is a special place,” Dachel continued. “My co-workers are like my family. And to have my own kids here with family members is incredible, it takes a village. I’m very lucky.”

Dachel has two daughters who attend the school, allowing her to see their academic and personal growth firsthand. “Seeing them get their awards here and really be a part of their education is wonderful. I get to be a part of it all. They’re getting the best education and it’s the best mom job ever,” she proudly stated.

When not at school, Dachel enjoys spending quality time with her family, going on adventures like four-wheeling and hiking.

“I want to be with my kids and I love my coworkers,” said Dachel. “It makes life so much easier when you love coming to work.”

Reflecting on her two decades of service, Dachel expressed gratitude for the supportive environment at Lake George. “This school is one in a million and it’s wonderful to be a part of the history of the school. We always strive to be the best whether you’re in cleaning or teaching, and the administration makes you feel needed and important.”

Shannon Dachel’s dedication and positive impact on the Lake George Central School District serve as an inspiration to all. Thank you Shannon for your years of dedication to LGCSD!
