Lake George High School students are making huge leaps in the field of technology and sustainability. As part of the Clean Technologies and Sustainable Industries Early College High School (ECHS), a NYS P-TECH program, students are gaining hands-on experience and preparing for successful careers in STEM.
The recent Fall Student Project Exhibition showcased the innovative work of students from all grade levels. Freshman Cayson Howe and Sophomore Aidan Cardinale, along with seniors Mila Pernell-Gwinup and Isabella Tornabene, were among the participants.
Mila, an Engineering Exploratory student, is already looking ahead to her future. She’s currently researching potential Capstone project ideas, focusing on addressing food intolerance challenges and developing solutions. Her four years in the P-TECH program have equipped her with valuable skills and knowledge, setting her on a path towards a career in mechanical engineering.
Isabella, a Surgical Technologies student, is equally enthusiastic about her P-TECH experience. “Connecting with other students, public speaking, and exploring new ideas has really helped me grow as a person,” she said. “I feel like I’m gaining practical skills that will benefit me for my future career.”
Both Cayson and Aidan used 21st century skills to bring to life creative ideas in the field of STEM and workplace readiness for future use in industries around the local area. One group designed a STEM task with bubbles to be used at a Girls in Stem event in the spring of 2025.
The Clean Technologies and Sustainable Industries ECHS is a collaborative learning environment, which encourages students to work together and develop innovative solutions. The program’s partnership with Ballston Spa Central School District, higher education institutions, and industry leaders provides students with access to cutting-edge resources and real-world experiences.
Through this unique opportunity, Lake George High School students are not only gaining academic knowledge but also developing essential skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork. As they continue to develop skills in their studies, they are sure to make significant contributions to the fields of technology and sustainability.
