Principal Conway kicked off the 2024-25 school year at Lake George Elementary School with a warm and inspiring welcome to students. In the Little Theater, Mr. Conway spoke to each grade level, emphasizing the importance of leadership, citizenship, and personal growth.
Mr. Conway encouraged students to set both classroom and personal missions for the year, asking them to consider what they wanted their class to be like and how they envisioned themselves. He reminded students of the golden rule – treating others the way you wanted to be treated and with respect and kindness, as a fundamental principle for LGES and a positive school environment.
Two key goals were outlined for the school year. First, LGES aims to improve student attendance through self tracking and implementing school-wide challenges. Second, LGES would like to focus on building strong relationships between students and teachers, continuing with a supportive and welcoming atmosphere.
Opportunities for students to get involved in school activities, such as after-school clubs, greeting students, announcing school news, and participating in student lighthouse teams, were also highlighted. Mr. Conway encouraged attendance at school events like the fall festival, holiday fair, and airband, noting that involvement often leads to better academic performance.
School bus safety was another important topic that was addressed. Students were reminded of the rules and procedures to ensure a safe commute to and from school.
As the new school year begins, LGES is optimistic about the year ahead and looks forward to seeing students thrive academically and socially.
