Do you like trivia? Are you competitive? Come find out about our school’s Academic Quiz Team. This team is open to students in grades 8 through 12. Our team competes against other area high schools as part of the Post-Star Academic Bowl. The games are a little like Jeopardy matches, except four students at a time play as a team. The Quiz Team practices on Mondays after school in room 115 with Mrs. Van Vlack. New members are welcome.

Anti-bullying Committee
This Committee is open to all students to help spread the word about preventing and managing bullying. Meetings are held every other Friday during 10th period in the cafeteria. New Student Welcome Orientation, Unity Day, and Cody’s Climb are among the many events that we organize.

Astronomy Club
Astronomy club meets once a month to discuss astronomical phenomena and events and to plan our nighttime viewing sessions. When timing and conditions are right, we meet in the evening to use our telescopes to view various celestial objects we can see such as the moon, planets, star clusters, galaxies, nebulae, comets, etc. We also fundraise to take an annual field trip to various locations of scientific interest. See Mr. Wells (Room 10) for more information.

Business Honor Society
Business Honor Society is available to students in Grades 9-12 who meet the criteria for membership. Induction ceremony occurs in March each year. Students seeking induction into NYS Business Honor Society must meet the following criteria:
- Seniors must complete 3 credits of business by the end of the current school year.
- Underclassmen must complete 2 credits of business by the end of the current school year.
- Student must have and maintain an overall GPA of 80% or better.
- Student must have and maintain a GPA of 88% or better in business courses.
- Student must be an active member of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) by maintaining a 75% participation percentage in FBLA throughout their membership in Business Honor Society. Membership enrollment occurs in September each year.
Benefits: Members receive a certificate, pin, and membership card from NYS Business Honor Society. Business Honor Society members wear a stole at graduation to signify membership in BHS. Members are eligible for the Business Student of the Year award.

Cabaret Club
The Cabaret Club is a fun-filled action-packed club for all grades. Members are introduced to theater games, writing, composing, dancing, acting, singing, directing, and all things theatrical. The club elects whether to put on a performance at the end on the year.

How to become a more confident performer.
Drum Line
Drum Line is open to any student in grades 7-12 who would like to join. Students do not need any prior musical experience and they do not need to know how to read music. Rehearsals are scheduled after school and some evenings as necessary. Drum line performs at home football games, girls basketball games, all send-offs and other celebrations as requested. Drum line is a lot of fun and a great way to show your school spirit. See Mrs. Baker for more information.
Requirements: Grades 7-12 are welcome, and no musical experience is needed!

Effective Schools Committee
The Effective Schools Committee is a club that gets involved with students, staff and community. It is a club for students in grades 7 through 12. We host the annual Talent Show, as well as sponsor various events throughout the school year. We encourage the bond among students with school and community and recognize the importance of students giving back to their school and community.

Environmental Club
If you want to make a difference in the World… If you want to see a better future… If you care about the Earth and all its inhabitants… come join us in environmental club. No effort is too small. It is the little things that make a big difference. As a club, we hope to make more students and teachers aware of the small steps that can be taken to change the quality of life on Earth. Our group meets bimonthly, in Mrs. Darby’s room, to plan ways to get awareness out to the school and community. Group activities include; Earth Day, community nights, tree planting, and recycling campaigns. If these activities interest you and you feel committed, then please join us.

Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA)
FBLA is the largest nationally recognized student leadership organization in the world. The purpose of the club is to equip and prepare our students to be effective communicators and leaders in the business world.
FBLA is one of the few nationally recognized organizations that link professional business people with students and is recognized by many colleges and universities across the country. Students receive opportunities to learn many business leadership skills such as teamwork, public speaking, interviewing skills, organizational skills and the importance of community service. The highlight of the club is the competitions. Students have an opportunity to compete in over 55 different business related events.
Lake George FBLA students have earned recognition at both the state and national level. Our chapter has had students qualify for national level competition each year for the past 15+ years. Students have represented Lake George and New York State in various cities around the country including Orlando, Chicago, Nashville, San Antonio, Anaheim, Baltimore, Atlanta and even virtually during the pandemic!
FBLA is available for 8-12th grade students who are enrolled in a business education course.

French Club/ French Honor Society
French Club/ French Honor Society is open to all French students grades 7-12 who wish to explore hands-on aspects of French culture. The club meets on the third Thursday of the month during 10th period in Room 104. Refreshments are provided. Members of French Honor Society usually coordinate activities, with input from club members. Past meetings have included: karaoke, making French holiday cards, creating French artwork, French board games (Scrabble, Monopoly), Mardi Gras celebration, petanque (French bocce ball), decorating Yule log cakes,the ever popular annual school-wide scavenger hunt in March, and the new Tour de France on scooters race! Interact Club
Interact club is a Rotary sponsored youth service group that develops a fellowship and leadership through community service events. We participate in many activities that focus around your interests. Anyone can join! Meetings will be the second and fourth Wednesday of the month in Room 108. See Mrs. Kandora in Room 108 for further information.
Jazz Ensemble
Jazz Ensemble meets before school on Friday mornings at 7:15. All members of junior and senior band are eligible to join. If you are not in band, membership will be determined by audition. All members of Jazz Ensemble must be able to read music. Jazz ensemble performs in regular school concerts, on the Dollars For Scholars Annual Cruise and at various command performances throughout the year. Junior High Art Club
The Junior High Art Club is open to all 7th and 8th grade students who are interested in creating arts and crafts. For many of the projects, we will be using mediums and techniques that are not used in the 7th grade art classes. Each month, a different theme will be selected, for example, candle-making, acrylic rock painting, and handmade journal-books will be anticipated themes that will be offered during 10th period every Monday. To become a member, students should attend the first meeting in the Fall. Mrs. Connolly, the Junior High Art teacher, is the adviser for the club.

National Junior Honor Society
The National Junior Honor Society is the nation’s premier organization established to recognize outstanding middle level students. More than just an honor roll, NJHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship. These characteristics have been associated with membership in the organization since its beginning in 1929.
Members of Lake George Jr-Sr High School’s Lac du Saint Sacrement Chapter of National Junior Honor Society are called upon to exhibit the ideals of scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship –and encourage them in others. Students in 7th and 8th grades who maintain a 90 average are academically eligible to be considered for induction. Academically eligible students are invited to submit additional information about their leadership, service, and co-curricular activities to assist the Faculty Council in selecting students for induction. Feedback from teachers is also collected. New members are inducted in May each year and remain members through the end of 9th grade, provided they maintain the standards that led to their induction. Multimedia Club
Multimedia Club is made up of dedicated students who help produce many of the biggest school events. The club helps with Bravo, Talent Show, Rachel Ray, and many other special events throughout the year. One of their biggest jobs is broadcasting all basketball games. Peer Mentoring
Peer Mentoring is a program that connects upper classmen with 7th graders so that they can offer assistance and guidance in both the academic and social arenas. As such, their training and focus has been modeled by the Big Brother/Big Sister approach to mentorship and we therefore have the following focus and goals:
- Facilitate students in getting and staying organized.
- Teach strategies to more effectively complete homework (and learn from it.)
- Aid in identifying and learning effective study and test taking strategies.
- Assist in mastering effective and appropriate social skills.
- Help in the development of problem resolution skills.

Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) is a club dedicated to taking on issues that negatively impact the lives of teenagers.

Job description: Sell school supplies to customers at the school store, balance the books, and advertise. You may work in the morning, 10th period, or during study hall or a free period. All pay is deposited directly into your lunch account.

Senior National Honor Society
NHS and NJHS are more than just an honor roll. The Honor Society chapter establishes rules for membership that are based upon a student’s outstanding performance in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, and character (plus citizenship for NJHS). These criteria for selection form the foundation upon which the organization and its activities are built.
Scholarship: Students who have a cumulative grade point average of 90 percent at the beginning of 11th grade, meet the scholarship requirement for membership. These students are then eligible for consideration on the basis of service, leadership, and character (and citizenship for NJHS).
Service: This quality is defined through the voluntary contributions made by a student to the school or community, done without compensation and with a positive, courteous, and enthusiastic spirit.
Leadership: Student leaders are those who are resourceful, good problem solvers, promoters of school activities, idea-contributors, dependable, and persons who exemplify positive attitudes about life. Leadership experiences can be drawn from school or community activities while working with or for others.
Character: The student of good character upholds principles of morality and ethics, is cooperative, demonstrates high standards of honesty and reliability, shows courtesy, concern, and respect for others, and generally maintains a good and clean lifestyle.
Citizenship: The student who demonstrates citizenship understands the importance of civic involvement, has a high regard for freedom, justice, and democracy, and demonstrates mature participation and responsibility through involvement with such activities as scouting, community organizations, and school clubs.
Specific standards for these criteria may vary from one school to the next. Such variations are acceptable as long as they do not fall below the national standards set by the National Council of the NHS and NJHS. All chapters are required to write down the criteria and procedures used in their local selection processes. The Honor Society adviser maintains copies of the local procedures and has them available upon request. Any student in grades 10 through 12 in a school with both an official charter of the National Honor Society and an affiliation with the national office is eligible for consideration for membership in NHS. For NJHS, any student in the second semester of the sixth grade or grades 7 through 9 in a school with both an official charter of the National Junior Honor Society and an up-to-date affiliation with the NJHS national office is eligible for consideration for membership in NJHS.
Once a school has established a chapter, all membership selection for individual students is handled through the local school chapter.

Spectrum
Spectrum is a student-run club that supports young people in creating, strengthening, and sustaining our school environment as a safe and positive place for all. The club is open to all and meets the second Wednesday of every month. The focus of this club is to give members the opportunity to support each other, create awareness about diversity, and to talk about issues that may include sexual orientation and gender identity. This group of students may be involved in discussions and activities related to diversity, discrimination, harassment, and bullying in schools.

Student Council
The Lake George Student Council meets every third Wednesday after school in Mrs. Canale’s room (Room 110). Student Council is the representative body of the school. This organization serves as a link between students and the administration, faculty, and the community. Student Council promotes activities for student involvement with the school and community. This organization encourages students to express their opinions and offer suggestions in respect to school matters. Student Council is a nationally recognized organization with a set of by-laws that need to be followed. These set of by-laws are attached below. In addition, one can find how to join the organization in the by-laws.

Varsity Club
Varsity Club is a group of dedicated student athletes who partake in various community service projects and fundraisers in the area along with dedicating time and effort to improving our schools athletic standards. Our varsity athletes lead by example and always put forth significant effort. We take pride in athletic involvement and sportsmanship both on and off the field.

Weightlifting Club
The Weight room opens for club use Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 2:35-3:15 the first Monday after Thanksgiving through the end of the school year. You must sign in when you use it and you may come as often as you like or your schedule permits. Anyone can join. We offer training on the use of the equipment and will help you set up a personalized program that fits your needs and goals.
