Fee-Waiver Programs |
Fee-waivers for tests offered by The College Board (SAT I, SAT II, AP exams) and American College Testing (ACT) are available to students who meet certain specific income criteria. There are also programs that provide waivers for college application fees based on similar criteria. Use the links below to find out more about each specific program.
Testing Fee-Waivers Fee waivers are available
from each test agency if the test-taker meets certain financial criteria.
Criteria may be related to participation in the free/reduced lunch program,
family income, or other measures. Waivers must be obtained from your school counselor.

*Although The College Board only provides a fee-reduction program for AP Exams, New York State has a grant-funded program that covers the remainder of the test fee, providing 100% of the cost, for eligible students. See your school counselor for more information.
College Application Fee-Waivers
SUNY
Colleges The SUNY application (paper form) contains a section that
is completed by your school counselor to request a fee waiver. If you are
using the online
SUNY application, this section is found on the "transmittal form"
that you will print out and bring to the counseling center to request that a
copy of your transcript be mailed.
In either case, you should discuss your interest in using a SUNY application fee waiver with your school counselor.
College

In addition to formal fee waiver programs for families that meet certain financial criteria, many college routinely offer fee waivers to students regardless of need for a variety of reasons including, attending open house programs, meeting with college representatives that visit the high school counseling center, or simply for using the college's online application rather than the paper form.
