DISCOVER System -- a web-based resource covering the entire career preparation continuum, from learning about self and matching self to suitable career areas to identifying college majors that will prepare for a specific career and the colleges that offer those majors. Before you can log on to the Discover Website, you will need to pick up a username "Token" from the Counseling Center.  This Token provides full access to all of the resources available on the site including Interest Inventories, College Searches, Occupational Descriptions, and more.  Don't let this extra step stop you from checking out this web site. You'll find it to be a very useful resource.

Career development is long term and broad ranging process that encompasses each student's development of work related competencies, self-awareness, and knowledge about the world of work. The Counseling Department encourages the process of career planning throughout the jr-sr high school years.  This is accomplished in many ways as indicated in the outline below.

 

Lake George Jr-Sr High School has a wide variety of career exploration and development opportunities available to its students ranging from single-day job shadowing experiences to two year vocational training programs offered through regional BOCES centers.
